Job Description
This position is an exciting career opportunity for a high quality individual to work closely with our experts to deliver expertise, professionalism and innovative solutions in our core line of business. In this consultancy role you must be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a client facing environment, working within an established team to assist in delivery of services. MBM Quantity Surveyors get the opportunity to work on high-value, diverse and interesting projects alongside masters of the construction industry.
At Senior Quantity Surveyor level your role will include but not be limited to:
Undertaking client engagements
Ensuring engagements are undertaken efficiently and in budget
Making sure that MBMs work in carried out in accordance with our Quality Assurance requirements
Overseeing the quality of the work undertaken by junior staff
Representing and promoting MBM in the market
Assisting with Business Development activities including preparing fee proposals
Pre-Contract:
With limited supervision carry out preparation of:
Initial budgets and benchmarking
Elemental and trade based cost plans
Bills of quantities
Pre-tender estimates
Tender analysis
Bank reports
Provide tender methodology advice
Able to value-add to Client’s brief and/or challenges the client’s view when appropriate
Value engineering
Other work as required
Post Contract:
With limited supervision carry out preparation and/or prepare:
Progress claim recommendations
Bank draw-down reports
Cost reports and cash flows
Variation valuations
Other work as required
Meetings:
Attend all meetings with Client and/or project team and MBM Directors and staff as required
Desired Skills and Experience
A successful candidate will embody the following:
Minimum 4-6 years' experience working in Australia as a client side QS
Graduate of an accredited Quantity Surveyor degree course
Previous experience working for a client side Quantity Surveying Consultancy, providing the full range of project experience and the duties performed for all major projects
Experience in using CostX and Excel
Corporate members / candidate working towards accreditation of AIQS or RICS preferred
High level verbal and written communication skills
Client facing skills
